Marks Homa’s first win in 2023 and fourth win with Team Burns & Wilcox
Farmington Hills, Mich. (January 31, 2023) – Burns & Wilcox, a globally recognized leader in wholesale insurance brokerage and underwriting, is celebrating PGA golfer Max Homa – one of its brand ambassadors – in honor of winning the Farmers Insurance Open this past weekend at famed Torrey Pines in San Diego, California.
Beginning the day five strokes off the lead, Homa worked his way into contention throughout the final round, shooting a 6-under 66. This win marks Homa’s sixth career PGA TOUR victory and the second this season. This also marks his fourth win since joining Team Burns & Wilcox in early 2021.
“Starting off the year with a win given the elite field and leaderboard at the Farmers Insurance Open is extremely rewarding, but especially so as this was my first win since becoming a father,” said Homa. “I am thankful to partner with Team Burns & Wilcox for another season and appreciate their ongoing support for what I anticipate will be a promising year for both of us.”
During the third round, CBS “mic’d up” Homa on the thirteenth hole, giving viewers a rare opportunity to hear a player live on the course. He discussed his shot selection and provided insight as to how he planned to play the hole. This was the first time a golf broadcast included a live interview during a player’s round.
“We are proud to have Max representing the Burns & Wilcox brand and delighted that he helped champion a new and innovative feature to provide further insight to the game,” said Danny Kaufman, President, Burns & Wilcox. “His commitment to winning reflects the championship spirit that mirrors our own. We have routinely heard from our clients and partners about their pride in seeing Burns & Wilcox so prominently featured on the PGA and LPGA TOURs, and that comes through even more in moments of victory like on Saturday with Max at Torrey Pines.”
In his professional career, Homa has won the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship, the 2021 Genesis Invitational, the 2021 Fortinet Championship, the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship, the 2022 Fortinet Championship, and now the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open.
Burns & Wilcox currently sponsors three other professional golfers: 2016 PGA Champion Jimmy Walker, 2012 US Open Champion Webb Simpson, and the LPGA’s Sophia Schubert. The sponsorship with Walker began in 2016, expanded to include Simpson in 2017, Homa in 2021 and Schubert in 2022. Walker and Homa wear the Burns & Wilcox logo on the right side of their golf shirts and Simpson showcases the logo on the left side of his golf shirt. The company logo is also featured on Simpson’s caddie’s hat and towel and Homa’s caddie’s towel. Schubert wears the Burns & Wilcox logo on the left side of her golf shirt.
“As a proud sponsor of four professional golfers, Burns & Wilcox continues to build strong national and international brand recognition through a sport whose values make a positive impact on our business and those who love the game,” Kaufman added. “We would also like to extend our best to Jimmy Walker, who represented Team Burns & Wilcox with a thirteenth place finish this weekend. It is great to see him have a strong start to the year.”
Burns & Wilcox also has an official partnership with the Detroit Red Wings. The company’s logo is visible on center ice of Little Caesars Arena and Burns & Wilcox is the official sponsor of the Detroit Red Wings Teacher of the Month program.
The brand ambassadors share the company’s core values of integrity, hard work, competitiveness, and professionalism, aligning with the Burns & Wilcox company culture. To learn more, visit www.burnsandwilcox.com/sponsorships.
